Semarang - Tuesday, November 12, 2024, became an important momentum for the world of health with the implementation of The 1st International Conference on Health Sciences and Nursing (ICHSN 2024) held by the Indonesian Health Sciences Research Association (ARIKEI). The event with the theme “Global Health Challenges: Integrated Approaches to Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases Management” was held online through the Zoom platform, bringing together academics, practitioners, and researchers from various countries to explore science-based solutions to global health challenges.
The event opened with a warm welcome from Novita Al Ihyak Dieni, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the host. With a dynamic atmosphere, she introduced the moderator, Shella Gherina Saptiany, S.Pd., M.Pd., from the Indonesian College of Tourism Economics, Semarang, who guided the seminar session with great professionalism.
The keynote speech session featured Windadari Murni Hartini, SKM, MPH, from Poltekkes Bhakti Setya Indonesia. In her presentation, she highlighted the importance of a collaborative approach to address the global health crisis. “Dealing with infectious and non-communicable diseases requires the integration of technology, health policy, and active community participation,” she said. Windadari also emphasized the role of multidisciplinarity as the key to success in creating holistic and sustainable solutions.
The next session featured three distinguished speakers discussing the latest innovations and approaches in healthcare.
Dr. Dito Anurogo, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Cand.) from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan, delivered a presentation entitled “NEXT-GEN GLOBAL HEALTH 6.0: Integrative Genomics, Nano-Immunotherapies, and AI for Infectious and Chronic Disease Convergence.” He explained how the combination of genomics, nano-immunotherapies, and artificial intelligence (AI) can produce precision solutions to address the convergence of infectious and chronic diseases. This technology-based approach enables early detection and more effective treatment, opening a new chapter in personalized healthcare.
Zohaib Hassan Sain, MS from Superior University, Pakistan, presented a talk titled “Enhancing Healthcare Quality through AI: Innovations and Ethical Challenges.” He reviewed the use of artificial intelligence in improving healthcare quality, such as speeding up diagnosis and predicting treatment outcomes. However, he also cautioned about ethical challenges, including patient data privacy and possible algorithmic biases, which should be a major concern.
Friska Sinaga, S.Kep., Ners., MNS from Santo Borromeus University completed this session with the topic “Integrating Nutrition and Lifestyle: Essential Strategies for Strengthening Immunity and Combating Disease.” She explained the importance of maintaining a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle to strengthen the immune system. According to Friska, disease prevention should be a top priority, and simple steps such as adopting healthy eating habits can have a huge impact on individual and community health.
The conference was enthusiastically welcomed by participants from various countries. Interactive discussions allowed participants to ask questions to the speakers on the application of health technologies and strategies relevant to local and global challenges.
The MC closed the event with gratitude for the successful organization of ICHSN 2024. He appreciated all the speakers, participants, and partners involved, and emphasized the importance of continuing dialog and collaboration in the field of health.
